Mens: Patagonia-1491 Big Sur Blue Light and Variable Boardshorts 18

Product Description

Refusing to bow to the common perception that boardshorts are expendable after a relatively short shelf life, Patagonia has created a line of boardshorts made to last, both for your sake and that of the environment. Furthermore, this season marks the first in which every pair of Patagonia boardshorts is now sewn in a Fair Trade USA certified facility. Combine this with the fact that each pair now features some degree of recycled polyester, and its apparent there is a clear interest in morality where Patagonia is involved. None of these worthy focuses should distract you from the fact that these boardshorts are field-tested, and ready to perform in the heaviest of conditions. Two-way stretch, a durable water repellent coating, and a slightly shorter length, mean these won't get waterlogged or impede mobility. Encompassing all of these positives is the fact that these shorts are backed by Patagonia's Ironclad Guarantee, assuring you can return items that don't perform satisfactorily or secure repairs at minimal cost.Material100% Recycled Polyester

DWR -These boardshorts feature a Durable Water Repellent coating to dry quickly and help the water bead off rather than soak in.Patagonia Fit

Regular Fit -Neither slim nor oversize. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men’s regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.Eco-Friendly Materials

Recycled Polyester -This product is made from recycled plastic bottles. Approximately 31% of plastic bottles produced in the United States are made from a material called PolyEthylene Terephtalate, "PET" or "PETE." Usually clear or green, the plastic is mostly used for consumer goods such as soda bottles and food jars, but once recycled and processed, it has a wide variety of eco-friendly applications. While recycling is not the end-all, be-all solution for ridding the world of the plastic bag beast, it is a sustainable path for plastic products and takes less energy to produce than traditional polyester. Plus, it means less plastic bottles in landfills, not bad.Details

Fair Trade Certified Sewing -For every Fair Trade Certified item produced for Patagonia, they pay a community-development premium. The money goes into an account controlled by the cooperative of farmers or association of factory workers who decide how best to use it. The funds are designated for social, economic and environmental development projects. For example, cotton farmers may choose to use the money for agricultural improvements, rainwater catchment systems or to build a school or a health clinic. Workers in Fair Trade factories may invest in healthcare for their children, bicycles for easier transit to and from work or a cash bonus.

All workers in the factories and farms that make Fair Trade Certified clothing benefit from the funds, whether they work directly on Patagonia products or not.
